Remembering Britt

It was a Tuesday I will never forget. The look on my father's face was so heartbroken when he walked into my office eleven years ago today. I can't believe it has been that long since he told me that my best friend was in a car accident that took her life. I think about Britt all the time. I was afraid when she died that I would slowly forget her but now I find how silly that sounds because I talk about her all the time expecially with my husband and kids. They love to hear stories about her. I always wondered what she would think about Chad because she never got a chance to meet him but I know she would approve because he is just as crazy and loud as she was. :) Britt was such a fun loving person who never judged anyone and you could count on her for anything. I loved her because she wasn't afraid to be herself. There was no one else like her. I miss her so much. Her life was cut way too short but I believe there had to be a greater mission for her on the other side. About a year before she died, she wrote in a book given to me from seminary class, "I'll never forget you no matter what I'm doing or where I am. Stay close to the Lord in all your doings and you will be blessed. I love you."

Britt cheered in High School and this is how I like to remember her. She had a wonderful spirit about her. I can still hear her laugh in my head. That is something I will never forget.

Halloween Costumes

Cathi got me thinking about Halloween when I was reading her blog. She posted some really cute pictures of her kids and grandkids in their costumes and asked the question if you made or bought your costumes. Well I have done both. I enjoy sewing but sometimes it is cheaper to buy. I thought it would be fun to post old Halloween pictures of my girls costumes from past years. I hope you enjoy these Cathi! :) (2001) Kaitlyn was a bunny. I bought this one from Old Navy.(2002) Kaitlyn was Belle and Isabel was the Flower. I bought both.(2003) Finally I made them cheerleader outfits that year. (2004) Another year of buying. I found Kaitlyn's Princess Anneliese costume at Cosco. Isabel wore Kaitlyn's Belle costume and Lillian re-used the flower.
(2005) I made Kaitlyn a Mulan costume. It took me so long that I bought Isabel Cinderella and Lillian re-used the bunny.
(2006) I made Kaitlyn Dorthy. I offered to make Isabel something but she wanted to wear the Mulan costume. Lillian wore my friend Jen's Wonder Woman costume.
(2007) Last year I made Kaitlyn a poodle skirt. It turned out so cute. Isabel wore Dorthy (isn't that wig great?) and Lillian wanted to wear Kaitlyn's dance costume. That worked for me! Now what will they be this year?

I've Been Tagged!

I was reading Kristen's blog and realized she tagged me. This means I have to take some pictures of my house without cleaning first (no cheating allowed). Yikes!! Sorry Kristen, I wasn't brave enough to take a picture of my room!!! Jolene, I'd tag you but you live with Jaime. If you want to tag Jaime and post it that would be funny. I tag Aimee too! This is my favorite spot in my house. My leather chair. It's great for watching tv, feeding Cleo or reading. You can't tell from the picture but there are many crumbs from the kids sneaking snacks and other exciting messes!
These are my favorite shoes because I play Volleyball in them. That means I get a Tuesday night to myself without kids. I keep them by the front door.
This is Isabel's room. It's very dusty but who's looking.
Say Hi to Kona, my very, very dirty dog.
Me without make-up. I was told to take this. It's scary especially after a spin class. Nice eyebrows huh!

Ok Kristen, your sink looked a lot better than mine. At least my dishes are done but my sink is still very dirty. Oops!
Laundry room. Needs work. It's just too small for six people. I've tried everything.
Kaitlyn and Lillian's room. They didn't make their beds and they are too hard to make. Chad is the only one who can do it right.
This is the only bathroom I will show. Ha Ha!
Sorry, this is all I will show. The doors remain shut!

Cleo's Blessing Day

Last Sunday Chad gave Cleo a very beautiful blessing and we are very blessed to have her in our family. She is a beautiful little girl and we love her so much. We want to thank all who came. It was a day we will never forget. With this many cousins it's hard to get a good picture but we tried. These are the two best pictures that I could get. Cleo is the last child we are adding to the bunch. Jolene, you are responsible for any more additions because everyone else claims to be done! Top row: Luana, Aaron, Taylor, Gavin, Halle, Ryan, Leah, and Lillian. Bottom row: Anthony, Austin, Cleo, Kaitlyn, Carrie, Isaac, and Isabel.
Our Family.
I thought this was a sweet moment of Chad kissing Cleo.

Visiting Grandma Cleo's Grave

Cleo is almost eight weeks old now and this is the first time we have broght her to grandma Cleo's grave. The girls loved Grandma Cleo so much and wanted to say happy birthday and tell her that they miss her.

We were happy they mowed the lawns before we got there so the flowers will stay all week.
Kaitlyn knows grandma too well. She cleaned the headstone right away before we put down the flowers.
Kaitlyn, Isabel and Lillian decorated grandpa and grandma's headstone with carnations. They are so sweet. They love to come here to tell stories about Grandma Cleo. It helps them remember her. I know they never knew their great grandpa but they do ask about him. I do my best to answer their questions but he died when I was very young myself.

Annual Heart Check-Up

On Tuesday, September 2, We took Isabel to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Every year she has to get an Ecco of her heart to make sure she is still doing ok. We are happy to say that she is still doing just fine. We were shocked to run into her surgeon who operated on her over six years ago. (He is a very busy man). It was so neat to talk to Dr. Bailey and tell him how well Isabel is doing. He is such a kind man and it was such a neat moment for Chad, Isabel and I. This is Isabel's Cardiologist Dr. Kuhn. He is so nice and always gives Isabel a gift. Last year it was a book. This year he gave her a little puppy. I can't remember what she named it because she keeps changing it.
We always take a picture outside the hospital when her appointment is over. This is her clean bill of health smile. It's a great moment for us all. Isabel loves to watch the helicopters land on top of the hospital. There was one this time. She likes us to tell her the story of when she rode one and landed on that very same hospital when she was not even a day old. We are very blessed to have her!

It was a reall nice day with Isabel. She is good for another year. She has no limitations and can continue playing sports, dancing, riding rollercoasters etc. She is a very happy, outgoing, vibrant, sweet little girl and we love her! :)

The Pink Piranhas

Kaitlyn didn't want to take a serious picture so this is what I got. As you can tell she can't wait to play her game. She is going on her fifth year of soccer and loves it to pieces. She may be tiny but uses it to her full advantage. Doesn't she look scary? I personally would stay out of her way!
Now that's a little better. How sweet :) I made her take this picture before I'd let her leave the house! Saturday at 1:00 was her time to play. It was even hotter. 106 to be exact! So hot they didn't even get to play the whole game. The girls were complaining and the ref. couldn't take it anymore and called it. It's hard to play in that kind of heat. Kaitlyn told me that her team needed to just suck it up and play the whole game. Thats her dad in her! They still managed to score 3 goals. Good job girls!!!

The Purple Hearts

It's soccer time again! Isabel played her first game with the Purple Hearts Friday night. She loves playing soccer and could'nt wait for the season to start. This will be Isabel's second year.
Look how cute she is. Chad took her and it was hot! It was 105 outside. Yikes! It just doesn't cool down in the evening around here. Hopefully next game it will be cooler. My girls always volunteer me to make the hair bows for their teams so thanks a lot girls. They did turn out cute this year.
